In the beautiful season of early autumn, Paris is dressing up to welcome the 2019 European Utility Week exhibition. On November 12, the Paris Pavilion gets together a number of professionals from all over the world to celebrate a gala of smart metering.
With the progress of NB-IoT technology driven by social needs, smart metering has ushered in the spring of rapid development. Smart meters are not only featured by minimal energy consumption, but can contribute numerous connections. It will transform the metering business format from selling traffic to connections, mobilizing further advancement of smart home solution and smart industry. With this regard, SIMcom has brought about a few of narrow-band module solutions to this grand meter industry event.
The crowd packing at the booth of SIMcom with curiosity are mostly drawn by the ultra-mini SIM7090G module on display. As the latest small-scaled module (size: 14.8 X 12.8 X 2.0mm), it is a multi-band CAT-M & NB-IoT module solution with powerful expansion ability and diverse interfaces, including UART, GPIO, PCM, SPI, I2C, etc. The advantages on flexibility and integration capability make it an ideal choice for IoT applications such as asset tracking, wearable products and meters.
Meanwhile, SIMcom has showcased two narrowband modules which support LTE 450, i.e. SIM7070E and SIM7060R. 450 MHz is characterized with strong signal penetration ability and tremendous coverage, which can cover a wider area than high-frequency spectrum, thus reducing the networking cost while achieving faster deployment. Meters are usually used in places like underground with poor signals. Therefore, both narrowband SIM7070E and SIM7060R supporting LTE 450 are ideal options for smart metering in public utility and relevant sectors. Meanwhile, thanks to the extremely low power consumption, the service life of such smart meters can be as long as 10 years. Beyond that, it is compatible with SIM7000 / SIM800F / SIM900, reducing the development cost paid by customers.
In addition to narrowband solutions, SIM8200EA-M2 , SIM8200G and SIM8300G-M2 under 5G setup have shown up as well. The 5G modules are equipped with the latest Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ X55 5G New Radio (NR) modem. Designed in M2 and LGA form factors, it can provide multi-mode 3G/4G/5G capacity, and support 5G NR sub-6GHz spectrum, as well as SA and NSA networking deployment. The peak download speed is up to 7Gbps in 5G environment.
Moreover, SIMcom has demonstrated a series of cellular wireless communication modules such as C-V2X , LPWA , LTE-A, intelligent modules, LTE, WCDMA / HSPA +, GSM / GPRS as well as corresponding solutions, drawing a large number of visitors for inquiries.
